There’s Room for Your Voice
July 29, 2021

The written word is:

What would your life be like if you had never had access to any of the influential books that have impacted and transformed you? What knowledge and revelation would you be missing out on?

The written word is the medium God chose to use to pass knowledge of Himself down from generation to generation (The Bible). The written word was the means of edification of the early church (Paul’s epistles).

No matter how much technology evolves over the years, the written word will always remain a powerful and relevant tool of communication. Those words may be typed on a computer rather than penned by hand, and they may be read on a screen rather than the pressed page…but they will never go out of style.

Books are God’s idea. Our desire to produce and read them is because we’re made in His image.

  • “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God: and the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works”  – Revelation 20:12
  • “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.)  – Psalm 139:16
  • “You have taken account of my miseries; put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?” – Psalm 56:8

It’s easy for upcoming authors to convince themselves that what they have to say has already been said or that there are already enough books. Don’t fall for those doubts. All the words that need to be penned haven’t yet.

There is room at the table for more voices. There are people who need and want to read words that have yet to be put to paper. The landscape of our society and culture is ever-changing, and so the need to consistently communicate timeless truths in the midst of new contexts will never be exhausted. There are relevant and timely messages for each generation. Authors from one generation couldn’t write with the perspective or point of view of authors today because the world we live in is different. There are more messages to be brought forth.

Do you have one?
